New business support grants and funding programmes are being announced regularly so please click through to our News and Funding page as often as possible, to keep yourself up-to-date. Below are just a few items of news we want to bring to your attention:
New Discretionary Grant
A new Discretionary Grant is now available for up to £25,000 for those businesses who have been unable to claim through any of the governments original COVID19 support schemes.
The government has pledged up to £617million be made available and is aimed at small businesses with on-going fixed property-related costs. Local authorities are prioritising businesses in shared work spaces/hubs, regular market traders, small charity properties that would meet the criteria for Small Business Rates Relief, and bed and breakfasts that pay council tax rather than business rates.
You can get a grant of £25,000, £10,000 or any amount under £10,000.
Company accounts – filing extension
Any limited company that is affected by the impacts of COVID-19 and cannot file their annual accounts by the filing date can now apply for a three month extension. Companies must send the application to Companies House before the normal filing deadline. It should include a full explanation of why the extension is needed. Companies that have already extended their filing deadline, or shortened their accounting reference period, may not be eligible for an extension.
20 YEAR REVIEW OF WOODLAND PLANTING:
We work with a huge range of projects across a number of sectors, so at a time when the government has recently committed to large-scale tree planting schemes, we are proud to have supported a project undertaking a 20 year review of woodland planting on the pioneering South West Forest.
This review, undertaken and published by Timber Strategies, offers the first real insight into how to establish successful woodlands over the longer-term and aims to highlight what can be learned from the scheme that saw 3,000 hectares of woodland planted across North Devon and Cornwall between 1997 and 2005.
